Hydrologist Duties:
- Conduct field research for the design and installation of wells.
- Find answers to water well problems and get advice from others on the best ways to handle them.
- Help with well system installation
- Creation and upkeep of well records
- Conduct geophysical research and hydrogeologic testing.
- Bachelor’s degree holders in geology, hydrogeology, or a similar discipline
Hydrologist Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance for the preparation, evaluation, and recording of forecasting and hydrologic research projects.
- Comply with American Water Works Association Standards No. 24 and 233 when preparing and processing hydrologic investigations and predictions.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to collect, analyze, and simulate hydrologic data.
- Use GIS to create and model watersheds and water resources.
- Create hydrologic models that assess land use, stormwater management, and water quality and quantity.
- Offer geologists and engineers technical support for hydrologic research.
- Help in the creation of plans for hydrologic and water quality monitoring
- Contribute to the calibration of hydrologic and water quality models
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of water resources.
- Carry out hydrologic analysis and modeling.
- Perform resource evaluations and assessments.
Requirements And Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science, hydrology, geology, or a similar discipline
- considerable expertise in hydrological modeling
- Proficiency in conducting and evaluating soil, hydraulics, and hydrology investigations
- Experience with drilling, sampling, and testing
- Skills in budgeting and planning
