A Northern Cape community is up in arms with a woman who has been breastfeeding goats while her child starves.
The Bokhara farm community accuse her of witchcraft.
“I have never heard or seen something like this and only witchcraft can justify her actions, who, in their sober senses would take their baby’s food and feed it to animals unless if they are her tokoloshes,” Kholiswa Tawana, the woman’s neighbour said in disbelief.
The woman Takate Mgandu, who is said to be originally from Malawi was filmed breastfeeding two goats while her baby tried in vain to remove them so she could feed also.
According to community leader Jacob Otola, strange things have happened at the woman’s home including recently when her neighbours reported they were surprised to wake up to see her field all worked and clean when the previous day weeds were overgrowing the maize plants.
Apparently none of the neighbours confronted her for they all fear her.
Otola gave this reporter the neighbours’ names who went on to confirm the incident but pleaded that their names not be published fearing a backlash from their ‘strange’ neighbour.
“These goats that you see have been the same size from the time we know them, about three years, and now that there is this video our suspicions have been confirmed, she is a witch and she is going to finish us all,” said the worried neighbour.
