A Rondebosch man was found dead in his Larney house, naked and bound with a cable in a ‘weird’ manner.
The man, a retired accountant, was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
But witnesses say what baffled everyone, was the “weird appendages” found attached to the man’s penis and nipples, as well as an electrical cable that was tied to a big toe.
According to a family friend, 62-year-old Ian Moore was a bachelor who lived alone.
His body was discovered on Wednesday after a friend and neighbour repeatedly tried calling but without success.
The worried friend, who had a key to Moore’s apartment, then went to go check up on him, thinking he may have fallen ill.
He was shocked to find him dead instead.
He said Moore was naked and lying flat on his back on his bed in the bedroom. He immediately called police and ambulance services. A paramedic with ER24 declared him dead at the scene.
A source says Moore was lying in bed, both his nipples were apparently tied with cables to his penis, which were then connected to his one big toe.
Shocked neighbours were hush-hush about the incident and did not want to speak to the media when questioned.
A long-time friend of Moore’s family, Rene Baumann said Moore was not married, was a loner and had no children.
“We have not yet heard from police about the circumstances Mr Moore was found in,” is all Baumann would say.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk has confirmed that the body of a man was found in his home.
“No foul play is suspected at this time and a legal death investigation is currently underway, pending the post-mortem results,” said Captain Van Wyk.
