Late Minister Omar’s Nephew Shot Dead During Attempted Hijacking In Cape Town

Shaheed Omar, nephew of the late Justice Minister Dullah Omar, was shot dead in an attempted hijacking in Cape Town on Thursday evening.

Omar was shot at the intersection of Jan Smuts and Govan Mbeki streets in Landsdowne around 18h30.

He sadly passed away on the scene.

He is the son of Dr Adam Omar, a brother to the late minister.

The Omar family was on the spotlight recently after they refused to be associated with a planned march to support president Jacob Zuma saying they were never consulted.

The late stalwart’s family revealed that they were not consulted before the Western Cape region was named after Dullah Omar. At the time it did not see a compelling need to challenge the party.

Story will be updated as soon as more information becomes available…
